ECMS 2.0 will be the next major release of our content management system and will include some major advancements such as: A new database abstraction layer providing compatibility with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server, a revamped user interface featureing many web 2.0 features, a 3rd party API, etc.
Some of the original planned components of 2.0 have been released in 1.8 already such as improvements to media management and integration of previously seperate modules into the ECMS Core. Others have been reslated for one more substantial service release, version 1.9, to give us additional time to complete the larger changes taking place in 2.0.
We estimate a release in the 3rd to 4th quarter 2010 for version 1.9 and 1st to 2nd quarter 2011 for version 2.0.
