ECMS Geographic Information Server (ECGIS)

The GIS Module integrates with many areas of ECMS and its other modules to allow complex searches to be performed based on geographical information.

It includes a geocoder that allows users within the familiar layout of the ECMS forms to convert physical addresses into geographical coordinates, or even to select locations visually using interactive maps.

Using the information stored by the GIS Module, ECMS can then provide a full suite of interactive map features for use across your website. More advanced features include building custom maps based on many different types of locator's generated from different ECMS modules, such as business locations, driving directions and more.

Maps also work in reverse so that indicators on the interactive maps can be clicked on to view more detailed information about that particular location point or area.

Integration with Google Maps

The ECMS GIS module works seamlessly with the open Google Maps application and can be custom tailored to provide integrated management of any of the available features in the Google API.

Integration with Other Spatial Servers

The ECMS GIS module is also fully capable of integrating with the ESRI ARC IMS Server, the premiere Spatial Server. ARC IMS is produced by ESRI, the worlds largest geomatic software company and de-facto standard in GIS.

As a free alternative It is also possible to utilize the open source MapServer, however as an open source project with limited support and API functionality, integrated management features within ECMS are not available at this time.
